Famous Hedge Funds 2019Some hedge funds are considered classics, either due to exemplary performance in the past, or because the managers of those funds are famous successful investors. These funds tend to be watched more closely than others, especially by the media and smaller investors who try to pick up when these experts are placing bets on new stocks.
Typical examples of such fund managers are Warren Buffett and George Soros. When a famous fund manager buys large amounts of a stock, the media gets wind of that and reports on it. Smaller investors will then jump in and buy the stock, sending its shares even higher. In fact, this has happened so frequently with Warren Buffett that it has been dubbed the "Buffett Effect".
