When are 13f filings due?

When are 13f filings due? Is there a certain time when they come out or are released?

Answers:

13f filings are due 45 days after the end of each quarter. For example, 13f filings for the 4th quarter are due February 14, 2019.

The exceptions for this are when the due date clashes with a weekend or a holiday. In those cases the due date becomes the next business day.

Technically they are due within 45 days of the last day in the quarter, but that can sometimes change due to a holiday.

Although funds can submit the 13f filings early, most funds wait till the deadline to release their filings, and some are even late. Thus 13f filings typically come out around 45 days after the end of a quarter.

Funds also often make amendments to their 13f filings, so just because they submitted a form 13f doesn't mean it is the final version.
